Tools

One task each, on your own computer.

Each tool does one repeatable job locally and gives you a result you can check, correct and save. Some run small AI models on your computer. Some need only ordinary code.

Tools so far

Tables

In development

Turn a photo of a printed table, or a bank statement saved as a PDF, into cells you can check, edit and save as a CSV. It is not available to download yet.

Works on
One clear, upright, tightly cropped image of a printed table in English, with no merged cells. Or one statement downloaded from a bank as a text PDF, not a scan.
Models
For images, four small specialist models, about 34 MB in total, run on your computer’s CPU. For PDF statements, none. See the models used.
Network
Setup downloads and verifies the models once. Normal use downloads nothing, and your file is not sent to a cloud service.
You must
Check every cell before saving. The reader can misread numbers, miss spaces or add empty rows.

See what Tables does, or read what has been checked. Or try it in your browser.

Meeting Notes

In development

Transcribe a recorded meeting, listen back, correct the transcript and save it as text. It is not available to download yet.

Works on
An English meeting between two people, up to 30 minutes.
Models
One speech model, Whisper small.en, about 486 MB, runs on your computer’s CPU. See the model used.
Network
Setup downloads and verifies the model once. Normal use downloads nothing, and your recording is not sent anywhere.
You must
Check the transcript against the recording. It can miss or invent words, especially names and numbers.

See what Meeting Notes does.

Text

In development

Sort, tidy and fix line breaks in text with ordinary code, and see exactly what changed. It is not available to download yet.

Works on
Pasted or opened plain text. Five exact changes, one at a time, or a comparison of two lists.
Models
None. Ordinary code only.
Network
None. Nothing is downloaded or sent.
You must
Check the words sentence case lists, such as names it may have lowered.

See what Text does. Or try it in your browser.

Share Copy

In development

Make a copy of a letter or email with personal details taken out, before you paste it into a chat model. It is not available to download yet.

Works on
Pasted or opened English text, or an image of a printed letter.
Models
Two: Ettin 68M PII suggests details to remove, and Tesseract reads images, about 141 MB in all, on your CPU. See the models used.
Network
Setup downloads the models once. Normal use downloads nothing, and your text is not sent anywhere.
You must
Read the whole copy. The suggestions miss things, so a copy is only as safe as your check.

See what Share Copy does.

Regulars

In development

See what you pay for again and again, from a year of bank statements, sorted by yearly total. It is not available to download yet.

Works on
Statement CSVs saved and checked in Tables. One bank’s layout so far.
Models
None. Ordinary code only.
Network
None. Nothing is downloaded or sent, and nothing is stored.
You must
Check your statements in Tables first, and save the list as CSV before closing if you want to keep it.

See what Regulars does. Or try it in your browser.

Local

In development

Find where something is written in a folder of your own files, or a picture or video by what it shows, from a question in your own words. It is not available to download yet.

Works on
A folder of text files, such as notes, Markdown and code, with its PDFs, Word documents, pictures and videos. Not scans or sound.
Models
One: EmbeddingGemma 2, about 1.5 GB, on your CPU. It matches by meaning and writes nothing. See the model used.
Network
Setup downloads the model once. Normal use downloads nothing, and your files and questions are not sent anywhere.
You must
Read the passages yourself. Local shows where to look and writes no answer, and the right passage may not be among those shown.

See what Local does.

Media

In development

Make a smaller copy of a video or a picture, crop a picture or make it black and white, or keep part of a recording. It is not available to download yet.

Works on
One short landscape MP4 video, one WAV or MP3 recording, or up to 100 JPEG or PNG pictures.
Models
None. The changes are ordinary code. For a few days a 2.5 GB language model read typed requests; I took it out when a better form did the same job.
Network
Use downloads nothing, and your files are not sent anywhere.
You must
Read the plan before you confirm it. Then look at or listen to the copy.

See what Media does.

Geo

In development

Find the photos in a folder by where they were taken, near a point, inside an area or between two dates. It is not available to download yet.

Works on
A folder of photos that carry the GPS position your phone or camera recorded. Photos without one are counted, not guessed.
Models
None. Ordinary code only.
Network
None in normal use, and the map contacts no map service. If you choose “Use my current location”, your browser may contact a location service.
You must
Give a position as latitude and longitude. It does not know place names.

See what Geo does. Or try it in your browser.

Sort

In development

Suggest where a folder of unsorted photos belongs in the folders you already have, by date and by look. It is not available to download yet.

Works on
A folder of photo folders on a Mac, and up to 2,000 unsorted JPEG, HEIC, PNG or TIFF photos.
Models
Apple’s Vision, built into macOS, so nothing is downloaded. Where Local has indexed your folders, it reads Local’s EmbeddingGemma numbers too. See the models used.
Network
None. The part that reads photos runs with networking turned off.
You must
Read each suggestion, especially those by look, then read and run the script yourself. Sort moves nothing.

See what Sort does.

A tool is added here when I have used it enough to describe it honestly, with its real status.

Using them together

Some jobs take two tools, one after the other. I pour the result from one to the next by hand: save it as a file, then open that file in the next tool. The playbooks write down the routes I have taken, such as a year of statements through Tables and then Regulars.

What every tool page tells you
